What's
the difference between a psychic and a medium ?
Quite simply - psychic ability is to do with Earth-related matters,
whereas mediumship is actual contact with Spirit. 'Spirit' is
the term given to souls or energies in the Spirit World. These
spirits are usually our friends and family.
People with psychic abilities can usually pick up basic details
about individuals regarding : family, pets, new job offers, holidays
and travel, or difficult situations at work with colleagues etc.
These are simple observations that may be felt, visualised or
simply perceived in thought. From there, the psychic reader will
usually begin to pick up things in a little more detail, gaining
specific knowledge by tuning into their own higher awareness.
It is best for the person being read to only give 'yes' or 'no'
as confirmation to facts given by the psychic during the reading.
This is so that the reader does not become influenced unnecassarily.
The quality of such readings depends on who's doing them. Please
do be aware that there are a minority few of tricksters and frauds
out there, bad apples who spoil the barrel so to speal.
These people pour discredit on the vast majority of psychics who
genuinely have a true psychic awareness.
Personally, I think there is a fine line between intuition (or
gut instinct if you like) merging into psychic ability. And then
another fine line where psychic ability merges
into Mediumship.
The point at which intuition drifts into psychic ability is usually
when the psychic tells the sitter things that cannot be guessed
easily or picked up psychologically or from a person's body language
alone.
You can often judge a person by how they look. By their clothes,
attitude, body language, mannerisms and accent you can begin to
build up a picture of what their possible background could be.
This is not how a psychic reader should read. True psychics should
read from what is within them and not how a person looks. As the
old saying goes - you should never
judge a book by its cover. What is shown on the outside can sometimes
hide what really lies underneath.
The more personal, specific and unlikely (but true) the information
is, the more likely you are to be dealing with a genuine psychic.
What
do I offer in my readings ?
Whether the readings I do are psychic or mediumistic is sometimes
hard to tell. And rather strangely, I don't really have much control
as to what comes through. Sometimes
they are merely psychic observations, other times I feel a spirit
is coming through and this is confirmed by them giving validations
that only that spirit and the sitter being read would know.
I can usually tell when a psychic reading goes into mediumship,
as I get a sense of presence and feelings of love, warmth and
good humour. Other times though I don't feel anything. Maybe it
depends on how strongly they can get through, I'm not too sure.
So the answer is - probably a bit of both. However, I always make
a point of saying that if you wish to make contact with someone
in Spirit, I cannot guarantee it. I can't make demands on Spirit
- I can only ever give what I get. This is true with most mediums.
I have met some people who do claim they can ask Spirit questions
and make requests, but these are usually very highly developed
mediums, which I am not. Yet. I'd say be rather wary of those
mediums who claim to make instant contact with whoever you wish
to speak to in Spirit, and make sure you get enough proof to know
it really is the person you're wishing to speak with in Spirit.
It may be that you're expecting Dad to come through, but get an
old lady who lived next door to you 43 years ago ! It's strange
how that happens, but it can happen. And does happen. But does
this mean Dad doesn't want to speak to you or doesn't love you
? Of course not ! It may be that the person you wish to speak
to is not quite ready or not developed enough yet to communicate.
But give it time and they may come through for you at a later
date. Don't be disappointed.
When we cross over to Spirit side we don't suddenly get issued
a harp and a pair of wings, lazing around in paradise for eternity.
It is of course a wonderful place to be - but we are busy bess
over there - learning and evolving all the time.
